A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

Before you explore.

Does a high score mean a destination is safe?

No score can guarantee safety. The GLD Index compares LGBTQ+ travel conditions; use it alongside current official advice and local information. Experiences also vary between travellers.

Why can a city and its country have different scores?

The country score describes the national environment. The city score builds on that foundation with local signals such as LGBTQ+ visibility, venues, events and tourism.

Where do the scores on this page come from?

Current publishable scores are synchronised from the GLD Index data portal. Destinations awaiting reconnection retain a clearly labelled historical score. Open a destination to see its components and recorded update date; this does not mean the evidence was verified on that date.
